Designed with the inspiration and input from children and families, the Children’s Garden includes a giant Grey Whale Garden, a Salmon Survival Path and spiral pathways leading up to the Lookout, a Starfish Garden, Rolling Hill, Log Pile, Tide Pool and Bog Gardens, a Willow House and other cozy seating areas. All the garden plants are selected for interesting shapes, colors, scents, and wildlife habitat, and the self-guided “Discover Your Garden” exploration activity will lead you to all of them! There are 1800 sq ft. of wheelchair-accessible garden pathways as well as accessible child and adult-size picnic tables, a double-sided “All are Welcome” mural, and signage in multiple languages. Since 2001, the all-volunteer Children’s Garden Committee has managed the garden, and the WSU/King County Master Gardener Program, Master Gardener Foundation, and Seattle Parks Foundation are its key partners and sponsors. We welcome you to attend our free, family-friendly education and stewardship events that are held once a month from spring to fall.
